Departure
Sobretta ridge gondola
A trekking trail of medium difficulty, the Cresta Sobretta – Sunny Valley route or vice versa requires appropriate sports equipment such as specific trekking shoes and technical windproof shells. You can start from the Sunny Vally hut or from the Cresta Sobretta gondola, but we recommend that you start with the latter to enjoy lunch at the Sunny Valley’s magnificent restaurant and an afternoon of sunshine and tranquility at the hut’s solarium. Starting from the Cresta Sobretta gondola, you immediately reach the first viewpoint near the former Sobretta refuge where you can admire the vastness of the Ortles-Cevedale and Adamello mountain groups, with their powerful glacial blankets. Continuing uphill, you will reach Mount Sobretta and the second viewpoint near the Alpe Pond where we recommend you take a short break to admire the summer colors, pure nature and, if you are lucky, local animals such as marmots, deer, roe deer and foxes. In just over an hour’s trek from the starting point, you will arrive at Sunny Valley: a typical Valtellina restaurant and luxury resort in the heart of Stelvio National Park.
Loop route starting and ending at Sunny Valley, an enchanted plateau, sunny in both summer and winter, and crowned by the most important peaks of Alta Valtellina, including Pizzo Tresèro and Cima Sobretta.
The trail, suitable for hiking, is of medium difficulty with some steep downhill sections (maximum 204 m).
This route is rather short; in fact, the average travel time is 1 hour and 20 minutes.
By starting the walk in the morning, it is then possible to arrive on time for lunch at the typical Sunny Valley restaurant and enjoy a well-deserved Valtellina meal.
During the trek it will be possible to see, in that order, the magnificent Valfurva Canyon and the beautiful Edelweiss cave dedicated to edelweiss.
Thanks to the Sunny Valley – Canyon – Edelweiss Cave trekking circuit, you can spend a day outdoors among the unspoiled wilderness of Stelvio National Park.
